curated secondhand clothing bundle

for sara

I had the opportunity to do a 1-on-1 styling session with Sara recently and we pared down her wardrobe and identified some gaps she could fill to help achieve the looks similar to the ones on her Pinterest board. That list included some items like a trenchcoat, tops with different necklines, pants with patterns, colorful graphic tees, jumpsuits, button downs, and wide-leg pants. Below, you’ll see a 50/50 split of photo inspo from Sara’s Pinterest board and the Pinterest board I made for Sara that included clothing I think would be flattering on her, and below that, you’ll see what I was able to find for Sara secondhand!

sara’s Bundle

Universal Thread Cropped Button Down

Something Sara and I spoke about extensively was accentuating an hourglass figure with the help of tucking, belting, and cuts. Sometimes, when you tuck shirts in, there’s some extra fabric that gathers around the midsection, so to avoid that, I would recommend a cropped shirt. This top is also a bit of a wildcard pick on my part, because Sara’s wardrobe is filled with darker colors, so I want to give her the opportunity to step outside of her comfort zone with a lighter color without being pure white.

Liz Baker Black Blouse

Sara has a great deal of black in her wardrobe, and while I’m not one to discourage that, I am an encourager of adding some texture and visual intrigue so outfits don’t feel flat and plain. This Liz Baker top can be worn in place of a plain black tee, and the subtle crepe texture adds just a little bit of something different in the best way.

Green Cropped V-Neck top

In line with the previous cropped top, I’m continuing the theme with this gorgeous forest green blouse as well. I wanted to give Sara some necklines that weren’t crewnecks, while keeping her tops conservatively cut, and I think this v-neck fits the bill. On a personal note, I think this color will look so lovely on Sara.

grey knit wrap sweater top

Two things I had on my radar for Sara were wrap tops and cropped sweaters, and this felt like a 2-in-1. While this top certainly could be worn on its own, I snagged it with the intention that Sara could wear this over a flat black tee with black jeans. It feels a little fancier than wearing a traditional sweater or cardigan, which Sara does have a great collection of.

Cider Wide-Leg Trousers

Adding a little bit of color (a neutral color) to Sara’s bundle, I found these awesome Cider wide-leg trousers that have so much versatility. Obviously, they naturally lend themselves to being perfect for a business-casual outfit, but they would look exceptional with a graphic tee, pair of sneakers, and a denim jacket.

Black corduroy pants

Sara has a great collection of lightweight linen pants and distressed jeans, and I wanted to fill the gap with a pair of black corduroy jeans. This pair totally checked those boxes AND they’re stretchy, making them hopefully as comfortable as a pair of the comfy linen pants Sara already has.

Aerie Offline Hi-Rise flare leggings

Sara has a collection of leggings she loves to wear to the baseball field and while leggings are the ultimate staple comfort piece, I wanted to add a modern legging to her collection for consideration. There’s been a huge shift from the classic skinny black legging to a wide-leg and flare legging, and these Aerie Offline Hi-Rise Flare leggings look super cool while providing the comfort she’s used to with leggings.

London Fog Trench Coat

This is the item I was most adamant about finding for Sara. Trench coats are universally flattering, so versatile, and add this level of incredibly cool and practical to every outfit it’s a part of. This London Fog appeared at the one spot I always say has the best trench coat selection – ThriftSmart in Nashville.

saint Art black satin trench coat

Here it is, folks. The Pièce de résistance. A Saint Art satin trench coat. (For context, Saint Art outerwear averages a hefty price tag of $500 so obviously finding this secondhand was already a huge score). Price value score aside, this piece is unbelievably cool. It’s silky smooth and has a gorgeous shine that feels so elevated. Sara could wear this with an everyday outfit for a little extra glam, or it could absolutely be worn over a more formal outfit and not look out of place.
