Howdy!
my name is hannah,
(affectionately called “Hann” on occasion) and I love secondhand stuff. Whether it’s a thrift shop, vintage store, estate sale, or even a friend’s bag of unwanted items soon to be donated, I believe there are treasures to be found just about anywhere.
Growing up, I thought of secondhand shops as a hack of sorts. While I watched my peers ask their parents for money to spend on fast fashion at the mall, I earned my cash from my frugal parents and spent it on the same name-brand clothing as my peers at a fraction of the price from a thrift store or consignment shop. At the time, secondhand shopping was my way to fit in in a cost-effective way. Now, secondhand shopping is my way to stand out in a cost-effective way.
How did hann-me-down begin?
Like many, I was furloughed in early 2020. I had too much time on my hands and nothing purposeful to do. When thrift stores began to reopen in the summer, I spent my time finding treasures amongst the overwhelmed racks and shelves. Eventually, I grew bored of aimless thrifting, so I created a challenge for myself. I took a dear friend’s Pinterest board and thrifted a little curated collection of secondhand clothes for her based on her style inspiration.
To my surprise, this project took off and grew into a unique small business that brings me so much joy! Since 2020, I’ve curated 20+ secondhand clothing bundles for people with all kinds of different personal styles.
when I’m not thrifting, I am…
- Spending time with my husband, friends & family
- Hosting a dinner party
- Getting lost in a curated playlist
- Watching reality tv
- Working on a creative passion project
- Exploring all that Nashville has to offer
